Eastern Kentucky at West Georgia
CARROLLTON, Ga. (Interstat) — ASUN Conference play opens Saturday when the West Georgia Wolves host the Eastern Kentucky Colonels at The Coliseum.
The matchup features two teams looking to establish momentum after inconsistent non-conference slates. West Georgia (6-6) enters at .500, while Eastern Kentucky (4-9) seeks to climb above its current winning percentage.
The Wolves, in their second season of Division I transition, are led by guard Shelton Williams-Dryden. He is coming off a 23-point, 4-assist performance in a 103-74 loss at Georgia on Dec. 22. Williams-Dryden has averaged 18.3 points over his last three games, providing a consistent scoring threat for the home team.
Eastern Kentucky will counter with guard Turner Buttry, who has been a steady hand for the Colonels. Buttry is averaging 11.8 points and 3.6 assists per game. He posted 19 points in a road win at Jacksonville State on Dec. 17 and followed with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in a loss at Wichita State on Dec. 21.
West Georgia’s non-conference schedule included challenging road games at UCLA, Georgia Tech and Georgia. Their most notable result was a 93-89 double-overtime victory at Troy on Dec. 1. Eastern Kentucky’s season has been marked by offensive volatility, scoring 122 points in a win over Indiana East but being held under 60 points in three of its losses.
The game will be the conference opener for both programs. For West Georgia, it represents an early opportunity to defend its home court in league play. For Eastern Kentucky, it is a chance to reset after a tough start and begin building a conference record.
Tipoff is set for Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026, in Carrollton.
