La Salle at George Washington
WASHINGTON (Interstat) — A surging George Washington squad will look to continue its strong start to the season when it hosts a struggling La Salle team in an Atlantic 10 Conference men’s basketball matchup on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026.
The Revolutionaries (10-4) enter conference play having won seven of their last eight games, including a 99-85 road victory over Richmond on Wednesday. They average 85.6 points per game, fueled by an efficient offense. A key catalyst is forward Rafael Castro, who is coming off a career-high 27-point performance against the Spiders. Over his last five games, Castro is averaging 16.0 points and 5.2 rebounds.
George Washington has been dominant at the Charles E. Smith Center, posting a 6-1 record in Washington this season. Their offense will be tested against a La Salle defense that has allowed 80 or more points in four of its last five contests.
The Explorers (4-10) aim to halt a four-game losing skid, most recently falling 80-75 to George Mason on Wednesday. La Salle has faced a difficult non-conference schedule, with road losses to power conference opponent Michigan and a solid High Point team.
La Salle will rely on forward Josiah Harris, who recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds against George Mason. Harris has been a consistent bright spot, scoring in double figures in four of the last five games, including a 21-point effort in a win over Drexel on Dec. 6.
The Explorers’ challenge will be containing George Washington’s high-powered attack while finding enough scoring beyond Harris. Jerome Brewer, who scored 21 points in the last outing, will need to provide additional offensive support.
This game opens the Atlantic 10 schedule for both teams. George Washington seeks to establish itself as a conference contender, while La Salle hopes to find a turnaround moment on the road.
Tip-off is set for Saturday afternoon at the Smith Center. George Washington visits Dayton next on Tuesday, Jan. 6. La Salle continues its road swing at Rhode Island on Wednesday, Jan. 7.
