OXFORD, Ohio (Interstat) — Brant Byers scored 26 points to lead Miami (Ohio) to a 76-73 comeback victory over Akron in a Mid-American Conference men’s basketball game Saturday at Millett Hall.

The Redhawks (15-0) trailed 36-33 at halftime but outscored the Zips 43-37 after intermission to preserve their perfect record before a crowd of 4,111. Eian Elmer added 19 points and eight rebounds for Miami.

Tavari Johnson led Akron (9-4) with 22 points, while Amani Lyles had 16 points and nine rebounds. Eric Mahaffey recorded a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds. The Zips led for much of the contest but could not hold off the second-half surge by the Redhawks.
