Marist at Saint Peter`s

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (Interstat) — A pair of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference teams trending in opposite directions will meet Friday when the Marist Red Foxes visit the Saint Peter’s Peacocks at Yanitelli Center.

Marist (8-4) looks to rebound from a conference road loss that snapped a three-game win streak. The Red Foxes fell 64-58 at Quinnipiac on Monday despite 11 points from guard Elijah Lewis. Lewis has been a consistent offensive catalyst, averaging 15.3 points over his last six games, including a 22-point, 8-rebound performance in a win over Manhattan on Dec. 7. Marist’s defense has been a strength, holding opponents to 66.2 points per game.

Saint Peter’s (6-5) enters on a three-game winning streak, most recently a 70-66 road victory at Fairfield on Monday. Guard Brent Bland led the way with 14 points and has provided steady scoring, averaging 14.0 points over the last five contests. The Peacocks’ defense has been stifling during their streak, allowing an average of just 53.0 points per game in wins over Niagara, Canisius and Centenary.

The matchup pits Marist’s efficient offense against a surging Saint Peter’s defense. The Red Foxes have scored 70 or more points in seven games this season, while the Peacocks have held four opponents under 60 points.

Historically, games between these two have been tightly contested. The teams split their meetings last season, each winning on their home court.

For Marist, a win would solidify a strong start to MAAC play and build momentum before hosting Iona on Sunday. For Saint Peter’s, protecting its home floor would extend its win streak to four and even its conference record.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST Friday. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
