Tennessee State at Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Interstat) — Two teams riding high offensively will meet Sunday when Tennessee State visits Chattanooga in a nonconference men’s basketball matchup.

Both the Tigers (4-3) and Mocs (4-3) enter with identical records and are coming off dominant home victories over Tenn. Wesleyan. Tennessee State routed the Bulldogs 98-77 on Saturday, while Chattanooga cruised to a 109-59 win on Friday.

The game at McKenzie Arena pits two teams looking to build momentum. The Tigers have shown resilience, bouncing back from a 60-point outing in a loss to Tennessee with a 75-73 road win against UNC Asheville last Tuesday before their latest offensive explosion.

Chattanooga’s season has followed a similar pattern, mixing decisive wins over lower-tier opponents with road losses to tougher competition like UNLV and Saint Mary’s. In their last outing, the Mocs’ offense was fueled by a balanced attack, with Jordan Frison scoring 17 points, Billy Smith adding 15 and Makai Richards recording a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

This contest represents the final tune-up for both squads before a stretch of more challenging games. Chattanooga will host Southeast Missouri State next Saturday, while Tennessee State opens a two-game road trip at Alabama A&M on Wednesday.
