Niagara at Duke
DURHAM, N.C. (Interstat) — The undefeated and fifth-ranked Duke Blue Devils look to continue their dominant start to the season when they host the Niagara Purple Eagles in a nonconference men’s basketball game Friday at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Duke (5-0) is coming off a marquee 78-66 victory over then-Kansas on Tuesday. The Blue Devils’ offense has been potent, averaging 90.2 points per game, while their defense has held opponents to just 60.2 points. In the win over the Jayhawks, freshman Cameron Boozer led the way with 18 points and five assists, while Isaiah Evans added 16 points.
Niagara (2-2) arrives after a 74-68 road loss to Le Moyne on Monday. The Purple Eagles have shown a balanced attack, with Reggie Prudhomme (15 points, 8 rebounds) and Vice Zanki (16 points) leading the effort in their most recent contest. Their two wins this season came against Delaware State and Binghamton.
The game is part of a multi-team event, with both teams scheduled to face Howard in Durham over the weekend. Duke will host Howard on Sunday, while Niagara faces Howard on Saturday at a neutral site in the same city.
This marks the first meeting between the programs since the 1978 NCAA Tournament. Duke has won all three previous matchups.
Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. EST.
