Arkansas State at Saint Mary`s
MORAGA, Calif. (Interstat) — The undefeated Saint Mary’s Gaels will put their perfect record on the line when they host the Arkansas State Red Wolves in a non-conference men’s basketball matchup Wednesday at McKeon Pavilion.
Saint Mary’s (4-0) has dominated its early schedule, winning each game by at least 17 points. The Gaels are coming off an 80-49 rout of North Texas on Friday, where Mikey Lewis led the way with 23 points. The team’s defense has been stifling, holding opponents to an average of 60.3 points per game.
Arkansas State (3-1) arrives in California with momentum from a 95-67 victory over Christian Brothers on Saturday. Jaxon Ellingsworth scored 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the win. The Red Wolves’ only blemish is a 90-65 road loss to Stephen F. Austin.
The game pits the high-scoring offense of Arkansas State, which is averaging 83.8 points, against the formidable defense of Saint Mary’s. The Gaels have yet to be truly tested, while the Red Wolves have already secured two hard-fought road wins at Missouri State and Ohio.
This will be the first meeting between the two programs.
