BLACKSBURG, Va. (Interstat) — Virginia Tech defeated Boston College 72-63 in an Atlantic Coast Conference men’s basketball game Tuesday night at Cassell Coliseum.

The Hokies led 35-24 at halftime and maintained their advantage throughout the second half before an announced crowd of 5,071. Virginia Tech improved to 19-11 overall. Boston College fell to 10-20.

The Eagles, who shot poorly from the floor, could not overcome the early deficit despite a stronger second-half offensive output. Virginia Tech was installed as a 12.5-point pregame favorite. The total score fell under the betting over/under line of 140.5.

Virginia Tech visits Virginia on Saturday. Boston College hosts Notre Dame the same day.
