Louisville at Clemson

GREENVILLE, S.C. (Interstat) — A critical late-season ACC clash with potential NCAA Tournament seeding implications is set for Saturday when the Louisville Cardinals visit the Clemson Tigers at the Bi-Lo Center.

Both teams enter the Feb. 28 matchup with identical 20-8 overall records, adding high stakes to the conference showdown. Louisville, however, brings more momentum, having won seven of its last nine games. Clemson looks to halt a four-game skid, its longest of the season.

The Cardinals are coming off a narrow 77-74 road loss at North Carolina on Monday, a game in which they led late. Guard Ryan Conwell has been a dynamic offensive force for Louisville. Over his last eight games, he is averaging 16.4 points, including a 31-point, 6-assist performance in a blowout win over NC State on Feb. 9. In the loss to UNC, Conwell scored a team-high 23 points.

Clemson’s recent struggles have coincided with inconsistent backcourt production. Veteran guard Dillon Hunter, a key player for the Tigers, has been held to single-digit scoring in five consecutive games. In Clemson’s most recent outing, a 70-65 home loss to Florida State on Feb. 21, Hunter led the team with 13 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists.

Louisville’s offense has been potent, averaging 86.2 points over its last five contests. Beyond Conwell, the Cardinals have received strong contributions from J’Vonne Hadley and Mikel Brown, who combined for 38 points against North Carolina.

Clemson will rely on its defense, which had been a strength before the current losing streak. The Tigers will need to contain Louisville’s perimeter attack and find more consistent scoring, likely from Ace Buckner (15 points vs. FSU) and RJ Godfrey.

The game marks the only scheduled meeting between the teams this regular season. Following this contest, Louisville will host Syracuse on March 3, while Clemson faces a quick turnaround with a trip to North Carolina on the same date. Saturday’s result could prove pivotal for both teams’ postseason positioning.
