BEAUMONT, Texas (Interstat) — Trae English’s layup with one second remaining Monday night lifted Nicholls State to a 53-52 men’s basketball victory over Lamar at Montagne Center. The Colonels, who trailed 23-20 at halftime, closed the game on a 6-0 run. English led all scorers with 18 points. Zee Hamoda added 13 points and four blocks for Nicholls State. Lamar’s Braden East scored 10 points, and his dunk with 24 seconds left gave the Cardinals a short-lived 52-47 lead before the Colonels’ final surge. Both teams are now 12-17 overall. An announced crowd of 2,437 watched the Southland Conference contest.
