Late Rally Falls Short for Long Island in Narrow Defeat

WEST HAVEN, Conn. (Interstat) — Greg Gordon scored 22 points, but the Long Island Sharks’ second-half rally fell just short in a 55-52 loss to the New Haven Chargers in a Northeast Conference men’s basketball game Saturday at Charger Gymnasium.

New Haven, led by Jabri Fitzpatrick’s game-high 19 points, built a 31-15 halftime lead before withstanding a fierce comeback attempt. The Sharks outscored the Chargers 37-24 after halftime, closing to within a single possession in the final minute but unable to complete the comeback. Andre Pasha added nine points and nine rebounds for New Haven. Attendance was 667.
