Horned Frogs Outlast Cowboys in Overtime Big 12 Thriller

STILLWATER, Okla. (Interstat) — In a wild, back-and-forth Big 12 Conference clash that required overtime to decide, Texas Christian outlasted Oklahoma State 95-92 on Saturday afternoon at Gallagher-Iba Arena.

The game, played before a crowd of 7,098, saw the Horned Frogs squander a 12-point second-half lead, rally from a deficit in the final minute of regulation, and ultimately hold on in the extra period to sweep the season series from the Cowboys. Both teams moved to 16-9 overall.

The most critical sequence of the game unfolded in the final 30 seconds of regulation with Oklahoma State clinging to an 84-82 lead. TCU’s Micah Robinson was fouled on a drive with 17 seconds left. He made the first free throw but missed the second, leaving the Horned Frogs down by one. They immediately fouled Oklahoma State’s Jaylen Curry, who calmly sank both free throws with seven seconds remaining, pushing the Cowboys’ lead to 86-83.

TCU, without a timeout, raced upcourt. Jayden Pierre found Liutauras Lelevicius on the wing, and he was fouled by Isaiah Coleman while attempting a tying 3-pointer with six-tenths of a second left. Lelevicius missed the first free throw but made the next two, cutting the deficit to one. On the intentional miss attempt on the third, TCU’s David Punch was fouled battling for the rebound with 0.6 on the clock. Punch made the first free throw to tie the game at 86 but missed the second, sending the contest to overtime.

The Horned Frogs never trailed in the extra period, opening with a 7-2 run. Oklahoma State fought back to within 93-92 on a Christian Coleman 3-pointer with 1:15 left, but a critical turnover by the Cowboys’ Parsa Fallah and a late layup by TCU’s Micah Robinson provided the final margin. Oklahoma State had two looks at a tying 3-pointer in the final seconds, but Jaylen Curry’s attempts were off the mark.

TCU was led by a balanced attack that overcame a spectacular performance from Oklahoma State’s Parsa Fallah. The 6-foot-10 junior from Amol, Iran, dominated inside, scoring a game-high 27 points and grabbing six rebounds for the Cowboys. His interior scoring was pivotal in Oklahoma State’s second-half comeback from a 52-40 deficit.

Anthony Roy added 16 points and six rebounds for Oklahoma State, while point guard Kanye Clary orchestrated the offense with 13 points and nine assists. Christian Coleman chipped in 13 points.

The first half was a back-and-forth affair with TCU taking a 39-34 lead into the break, fueled by active defense that generated seven steals. The Horned Frogs extended their lead early in the second half, but Oklahoma State responded with a 30-13 surge over a nine-minute span, powered by Fallah and Clary, to take a 73-68 lead with under eight minutes to play.

TCU’s resilience showed, as they chipped away and set the stage for the dramatic finish at the free-throw line. Key statistical advantages for the Horned Frogs included a 13-5 edge in fastbreak points and a 38-40 near-parity in points in the paint against Oklahoma State’s formidable front line.

The victory marked TCU’s third straight win and continued their momentum in conference play. Oklahoma State, which had won three of its last four coming in, suffered a tough home loss despite a valiant effort.

According to Interstat’s ELO system, Oklahoma State entered the game with a 59.2% probability to win. The combined score of 187 points sailed over the posted over/under line of 154.5.

TCU next travels to face UCF on Tuesday. Oklahoma State remains at home to host Kansas on Wednesday.
