Wichita State at Tulane
Preview: Wichita State at Tulane
NEW ORLEANS (Interstat) — A pivotal American Athletic Conference matchup with postseason implications is set for Sunday when the Wichita State Shockers visit the Tulane Green Wave at Devlin Fieldhouse.
Both teams enter with nearly identical records, as Wichita State sits at 14-9 overall and Tulane at 13-9. The game represents a critical opportunity for each to bolster its conference standing and resume.
The Shockers arrive with momentum from a 74-64 home win over Charlotte on Wednesday. Guard Kenyon Giles led the way with 23 points, continuing a stretch of explosive performances. Over his last eight games, Giles has averaged 22.1 points, including a 33-point outing against North Texas and a 27-point game against East Carolina. His backcourt battle will be central to Wichita State’s hopes.
Tulane counters with its own dynamic guard in Rowan Brumbaugh, who is coming off a 27-point effort in a signature 78-76 road victory at Memphis on Feb. 1. Brumbaugh has shouldered a heavy scoring load, averaging 21.1 points over his last seven contests, highlighted by a 35-point performance at Charlotte. The Green Wave, however, has struggled for consistency, dropping five of its last seven before the Memphis upset.
Wichita State has shown resilience on the road this season, including an overtime win at South Florida last month. Tulane will aim to protect its home court, where it is 9-3 this season.
The matchup features two of the AAC’s premier scoring guards in Giles and Brumbaugh. Whichever team can better contain the other’s star, while finding secondary scoring, will likely gain the upper hand in a contest that figures to be tightly contested.
Tipoff is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026, in New Orleans.
