Preview of America East Men’s Basketball: New Hampshire at Vermont

BURLINGTON, Vt. (Interstat) — The Vermont Catamounts will look to complete a regular-season sweep and solidify their conference standing when they host the New Hampshire Wildcats in an America East matchup on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, at Roy L. Patrick Gymnasium.

Vermont (14-10, 6-3 America East) enters having dropped two of its last three, including a 76-70 road loss at Maine on Thursday. The Catamounts previously handled New Hampshire convincingly, 80-61, in Durham on Jan. 3. Sean Blake, a key player for Vermont, is coming off a 23-point, 8-rebound performance in a narrow loss to NJIT on Jan. 31 and has been a consistent all-around contributor.

New Hampshire (8-13, 4-5) seeks to halt a two-game skid after falling 92-84 at Bryant last Saturday. The Wildcats showed resilience in a recent three-overtime victory over Binghamton but have struggled for consistency. Junior forward John Squire is a focal point for the Wildcats, averaging 9.0 points and 4.8 rebounds per game in conference play. He posted 13 points and eight rebounds in the loss at Bryant.

The game features a contrast in trajectories. Vermont sits in the upper tier of the America East standings, while New Hampshire is battling to reach .500 in league play. The Catamounts’ defense, which held the Wildcats to 61 points in the first meeting, will be tested by a New Hampshire team that has scored 80 or more points three times in its last six outings.

Historically, Vermont has dominated the series, winning 15 of the last 17 meetings. The Wildcats’ last win in Burlington came in 2020.

Following this contest, Vermont travels to face Binghamton on Feb. 12, while New Hampshire hosts NJIT on the same date. Saturday’s tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. EST.
