Georgia Tech at Stanford

Preview: Georgia Tech Visits Stanford in ACC Men’s Basketball Clash

PALO ALTO, Calif. (Interstat) — Two Atlantic Coast Conference teams looking to snap losing streaks will meet Saturday when the Stanford Cardinal hosts the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at Maples Pavilion.

Stanford (14-9) enters the contest having lost five consecutive games, most recently a 66-64 heartbreaker to Clemson on Wednesday. The Cardinal’s last win was a 95-90 upset of then-North Carolina on Jan. 14.

Georgia Tech (11-12) has dropped seven of its last eight, including an 85-90 loss at California on Wednesday. The Yellow Jackets’ lone victory during that stretch came at North Carolina State on Jan. 17.

A key matchup will feature two of the conference’s top performers. Stanford will rely on guard Ebuka Okorie, who is averaging 19.4 points over his last seven games. He erupted for 36 points and nine assists in the win over North Carolina.

Georgia Tech counters with forward Baye Ndongo, a versatile threat who has posted two double-doubles and a 27-point, 7-rebound effort during the recent skid. He is coming off a 10-point, 8-assist performance at Cal.

Stanford has struggled defensively during its slide, allowing an average of 78.2 points per game over the five losses. Georgia Tech has faced similar issues, yielding 80.6 points per game in its last eight contests.

The game is part of the ACC’s expanded scheduling following the conference’s recent realignment. This will be the first meeting between the programs as conference foes.

Stanford holds a 5-6 record at Maples Pavilion this season. Georgia Tech is 3-5 in true road games.

After Saturday, Stanford begins a two-game road trip at Boston College and Wake Forest. Georgia Tech returns home to face Wake Forest on Wednesday.

Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. EST.
