Pittsburgh at Virginia

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (Interstat) — A surging Virginia team riding a three-game win streak will host a struggling Pittsburgh squad seeking an elusive road victory when the Atlantic Coast Conference foes meet Tuesday night at John Paul Jones Arena.

The Cavaliers (18-3) have solidified their position near the top of the ACC standings, coming off a 73-66 road win at Boston College on Saturday. They are led by standout guard Thijs De Ridder, who is averaging 21.4 points over his last five games. De Ridder erupted for 32 points in a double-overtime win at Notre Dame on Jan. 27 and scored 17 in the victory over Boston College.

Virginia’s trademark defense, allowing just 62.8 points per game, will be tested by Pittsburgh forward Roman Siulepa. The Panthers’ key contributor is averaging 13.4 points and 7.4 rebounds over his last seven contests. He nearly posted a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds in Pittsburgh’s most recent outing, a 52-63 loss at Clemson on Saturday.

The Panthers (9-13) have lost five of their last seven games and are 1-6 in true road games this season. Their lone ACC road win came at Georgia Tech on Jan. 14. Pittsburgh’s offense has sputtered, failing to reach 65 points in four of its last five losses.

Virginia holds a significant historical edge, winning 14 of the last 15 meetings. Pittsburgh’s last win in Charlottesville was in 2019. The Cavaliers’ balanced attack, paired with the nation’s eighth-ranked scoring defense, presents a formidable challenge for a Panthers team that has struggled with consistency.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST. The game continues a tough stretch for Pittsburgh, which hosts SMU next. Virginia will prepare for a home matchup against Syracuse on Saturday.
