North Carolina A&T at Drexel

PHILADELPHIA (Interstat) — Two teams seeking consistency in the Colonial Athletic Association race will meet Saturday when the Drexel Dragons host the North Carolina A&T Aggies at the Daskalakis Athletic Center.

The Dragons (11-11) and Aggies (9-11) enter with identical 4-5 records in CAA play, part of a muddled middle of the conference standings. Drexel looks to build on a gritty 58-51 home win over Hampton on Thursday, a victory that snapped a brief two-game skid. North Carolina A&T arrives after a heartbreaking 83-81 overtime road loss at Monmouth the same night.

The Aggies will lean on guard Trent Middleton, who is coming off a season-high 41 minutes in the overtime contest, scoring 21 points. Over his last eight games, Middleton has averaged 14.1 points, including three 20-point performances. He will need support from Lewis Walker, who poured in 24 points against Monmouth, and rim protector Zamoku Weluche-Ume, who had three blocks in that defeat.

Drexel counters with its own versatile guard in Victor Panov. He contributed 11 points in the win over Hampton and has been a steady all-court presence, averaging 8.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists over his last seven contests. The Dragons have relied on a stout defense, holding opponents to 58.8 points per game during their current 4-2 stretch.

Recent history shows both teams are capable of tight victories and narrow defeats. Three of North Carolina A&T’s last five CAA games have been decided by three points or fewer, including a 79-78 win over Hofstra and the overtime loss at Monmouth. Drexel’s last four conference games have all been decided by five points or less, highlighted by a one-point loss at Towson and a five-point win over Northeastern.

Saturday’s matchup will be the only regular-season meeting between the programs this year. For the Aggies, it begins a challenging two-game road swing before returning home. For the Dragons, it’s a chance to protect home court before heading out for two consecutive road games next week.

Tip-off is set for Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, in Philadelphia.
