Oklahoma State at Utah
Preview: Oklahoma State Cowboys at Utah Utes
SALT LAKE CITY (Interstat) — The Oklahoma State Cowboys look to steady themselves on the road against a Utah Utes team seeking a signature conference win when the two meet in a men’s NCAA Division I basketball game Saturday at the Jon M. Huntsman Center.
Oklahoma State (14-6) arrives having dropped four of its last five, including an 84-71 home loss to Iowa State last Saturday. The Cowboys’ offense has been inconsistent during the skid, heavily reliant on guard Kanye Clary. The standout guard is averaging 12.3 points and 5.7 assists over his last seven games, though his scoring has fluctuated. He poured in 19 points against Iowa State, but was held to just two in a loss at Texas Tech earlier this month. Support from Jaylen Curry, who also scored 19 last outing, and Parsa Fallah will be crucial.
Utah (9-11) has struggled to find traction in league play, coming off a 91-78 loss at rival BYU. The Utes have lost six of their last seven, with their lone win a narrow 82-79 victory over Texas Christian on Jan. 17. Forward Keanu Dawes has been a bright spot, providing scoring punch. He tallied 23 points against BYU and is averaging 15.6 points over his last seven contests. Backcourt contributors Terrence Brown and Don McHenry, who combined for 38 points in the BYU game, must also be factors.
The matchup presents a contrast in momentum, with Oklahoma State aiming to halt its recent slide and Utah desperate to climb back to .500. The Cowboys have shown a higher ceiling this season but have been vulnerable away from home. The Utes, despite their record, have been competitive at the Huntsman Center, including their win over TCU.
Saturday’s contest is the only scheduled meeting between the programs this season. For Oklahoma State, it begins a critical two-game road swing before returning home to face BYU. Utah opens a two-game homestand, with Arizona State visiting next Wednesday.
Tip-off is set for Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, in Salt Lake City.
