Baylor at West Virginia
Preview: Baylor Bears at West Virginia Mountaineers
STAR CITY, W.Va. (Interstat) — The West Virginia Mountaineers look to solidify their standing in the Big 12 Conference when they host the struggling Baylor Bears on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, at WVU Coliseum.
West Virginia (14-7 overall) enters the matchup having won three of its last four, most recently a 59-54 defensive battle against Kansas State on Tuesday. The Mountaineers are led by guard Honor Huff, who is averaging 15.4 points over his last five games and posted 17 points and five assists in the win over the Wildcats.
Baylor (11-9) seeks to halt a five-game losing streak, all in conference play. The Bears are coming off a 67-57 loss at Cincinnati on Wednesday. Freshman standout Tounde Yessoufou has been a bright spot during the skid, scoring 20 or more points in three of the last five games, including a 23-point performance in Baylor’s last victory, a 94-79 win at Oklahoma State on Jan. 13.
The matchup pits Baylor’s offensive talent against West Virginia’s recent defensive form. The Bears have shown scoring ability but have allowed an average of 81.2 points during their five-game slide. The Mountaineers have held their last two opponents to 63 points or fewer.
West Virginia holds a notable edge in conference positioning and will look to protect its home court, where it is 10-2 this season. Baylor, trying to salvage its postseason hopes, needs a signature road win to reverse its January fortunes.
The game will tip off at noon EST and be broadcast on ESPN2. It is the only scheduled meeting between the teams this regular season.
For Baylor, following this game, the schedule does not ease, with a home contest against Colorado next on Feb. 4. West Virginia hits the road for its next outing, facing Cincinnati on Feb. 5.
