Bowling Green at Central Michigan
Preview: Bowling Green Falcons at Central Michigan Chippewas
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (Interstat) — The Bowling Green Falcons look to rebound from a tough loss when they visit the struggling Central Michigan Chippewas in a Mid-American Conference men’s basketball game Saturday at McGuirk Arena.
Bowling Green (13-8) enters having lost two straight, including a 78-89 defeat to Buffalo on Tuesday. The Falcons’ fortunes often hinge on the play of standout guard Javontae Campbell, who is in the midst of a stellar individual run. Over his last seven games, Campbell is averaging 26.7 points and 7.1 assists, including a 47-point outburst in an overtime win at Massachusetts on Jan. 3.
Central Michigan (6-15) snapped a four-game skid with a dominant 100-65 victory over Eastern Michigan on Tuesday. Guard Tamario Adley led the way with 18 points and six assists in that win, part of an inconsistent stretch for the Chippewas, who have struggled to find consistency in conference play.
The matchup presents a contrast in season trajectories. The Falcons have been competitive in most games, with five of their eight losses coming by single digits. The Chippewas, meanwhile, have been plagued by defensive lapses, surrendering 100 points in two of their last five contests.
For Central Michigan, containing Campbell will be the primary defensive challenge. The Falcons’ guard has logged 40 or more minutes in four of his last seven games, demonstrating his critical role. The Chippewas will counter with Adley and Logan McIntire, who scored 19 points in Tuesday’s win.
Bowling Green won the first meeting this season, 85-79, on Jan. 17. Campbell had 18 points and five assists in that victory.
The game is scheduled for a 4:30 p.m. EST tipoff on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026. Following this contest, Bowling Green hosts Ball State on Feb. 3, while Central Michigan travels to face Massachusetts on the same date.
