Preview: Stanford Cardinal at Miami (FL) Hurricanes

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (Interstat) — A surging Miami (FL) team looks to solidify its ACC standing when it hosts a Stanford squad seeking a resume-boosting road win on Wednesday night at Watsco Center.

The Hurricanes (16-4), coming off an 85-76 victory at Syracuse on Saturday, have won five of their last six games. Their success is anchored by forward Malik Reneau, who is playing at an All-ACC level. Reneau is averaging 18.4 points over his last seven games, including a 20-point, 11-rebound, 5-assist performance against the Orange.

Stanford (14-6) arrives after a disappointing 78-66 home loss to California, which snapped a two-game winning streak. The Cardinal have struggled with consistency in conference play, particularly on offense, failing to reach 70 points in four of their last six games.

The matchup features a compelling clash in the frontcourt. Miami’s Reneau, a versatile scorer and rebounder, will be a primary focus for a Stanford defense that allowed California to shoot 50% from the field. Stanford’s hopes likely rest on the offensive production of guard Jeremy Dent-Smith. He has been a bright spot, scoring 20 or more points in three of his last four outings, but needs more support after shouldering the load in the loss to Cal.

Miami’s balanced attack, which also features Shelton Henderson and Tre Donaldson, presents a significant challenge. The Hurricanes are 9-1 at home this season, averaging 89.2 points per game in Coral Gables.

Stanford, in its first season of ACC competition, is 2-3 in true road games. A victory against a ranked-caliber Miami team would mark its most significant win of the season. For the Hurricanes, protecting home court is essential as they navigate a tough second-half conference schedule.

The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. EST tipoff on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026.
