UCF at Colorado

BOULDER, Colo. (Interstat) — Two Big 12 teams looking to steady themselves after recent stumbles will meet Saturday when the UCF Knights visit the Colorado Buffaloes at the Coors Events Center.

UCF (14-4, 3-2 Big 12) arrives after a humbling 87-57 road loss at Iowa State on Tuesday. The Knights, who boast the better overall record, had won three of four prior to that defeat, including a signature 81-75 victory over then-Kansas on Jan. 3. Their success has been fueled by balance, but guard Jordan Burks has emerged as a key scorer. He is averaging 13.2 points over his last five games, including a 15-point effort in the loss at Iowa State.

Colorado (12-7, 1-5) is in greater need of a conference win, having dropped five of its last six, all in league play. The Buffaloes’ skid includes four losses by single digits, most recently a 75-69 defeat to Kansas on Tuesday. Guard Isaiah Johnson has been a bright spot, scoring in double figures in seven straight games and averaging 18.1 points during that stretch. His consistency will be vital against UCF’s athletic perimeter.

The matchup pits UCF’s momentum-seeking roster against a Colorado team desperate to defend its home court and reverse its fortunes in a tough Big 12 slate. The Knights will aim to control the tempo, while the Buffaloes hope Johnson’s scoring and a return to form in Boulder can snap their slide.

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. EST Saturday.
