North Carolina State at Pittsburgh

Preview: Surging Wolfpack Visit Struggling Panthers in ACC Clash

PITTSBURGH (Interstat) — A North Carolina State team riding high meets a Pittsburgh squad searching for answers as the Atlantic Coast Conference schedule continues Saturday at Petersen Events Center.

The Wolfpack (13-6) arrive having won three of their last four, including an impressive 80-76 overtime victory at Clemson on Tuesday. NC State’s offense has found a rhythm, averaging 81.2 points over its last five games.

Forward Ven-Allen Lubin has been central to that surge. The junior is coming off a 22-point performance against Clemson and has averaged 15.8 points over his last six contests, providing consistent scoring and rim protection.

He will be matched by Pittsburgh’s Roman Siulepa, a versatile wing who leads the Panthers (8-11) in scoring during conference play. Siulepa is averaging 11.2 points and 5.2 rebounds over his last five outings, but Pittsburgh has lost four of those games, including a narrow 65-62 defeat at Boston College last time out.

The Panthers’ season has been defined by defensive struggles, particularly in ACC play where they rank near the bottom of the league. They surrendered 100 points in a blowout loss to Louisville on Jan. 17. Containing NC State’s balanced attack, which also features Quadir Copeland (16 points, 6 assists vs. Clemson) and Darrion Williams (17 points), will be a primary challenge.

For Pittsburgh, the path to an upset likely requires controlling the tempo and finding scoring beyond Siulepa. Barry Dunning and Cameron Corhen, who combined for 23 points against Boston College, will need to provide consistent secondary offense.

Historically, this series has been tightly contested, with each team winning on its home floor in recent seasons. The Wolfpack will look to continue their momentum before returning to Raleigh for a two-game homestand, while the Panthers are desperate to halt a skid that has seen them drop five of their last six.

Tip-off is set for Saturday afternoon. The game will be broadcast on the ACC Network.
