ALBANY, N.Y. (Interstat) — Albany defeated Vermont 75-68 in a men’s Division I basketball game Monday afternoon at SEFCU Arena, overcoming a pregame projection that heavily favored the Catamounts.

The Great Danes used a decisive 19-7 advantage in points off turnovers to secure the conference win before a crowd of 3,008. Albany led 37-29 at halftime and maintained its edge throughout the second half.

Zach Matulu anchored Albany with 13 rebounds and six assists. Amir Lindsey led all scorers with 24 points. Gus Yalden paced Vermont with 21 points and eight rebounds.

The loss dropped Vermont to 11-8 overall. Albany improved to 7-12.
