Preview: Fairfield Stags at Marist Red Foxes
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (Interstat) — Two teams riding winning streaks will clash Saturday when the Fairfield Stags visit the Marist Red Foxes in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men’s basketball matchup at McCann Recreation Center.
Both teams enter with 11-win records and momentum. Fairfield (11-7, 3-2 MAAC) has won three straight, including a dominant 98-62 victory over Manhattan on Wednesday. Marist (11-5, 3-1) has won three of its last four, most recently a 71-49 road win at Rider on Jan. 11.
The Stags’ offense has found its rhythm during the streak, averaging 83 points per game over the last three contests. Guard Deuce Turner has been a key catalyst, coming off an efficient 18-point performance in just 18 minutes against Manhattan. For the season, Turner averages 9.4 points per game.
Marist counters with a defense that has been stifling in conference play, holding MAAC opponents to an average of 58.5 points in its three wins. Forward Jaden Daughtry provides a versatile presence, averaging 5.1 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. He posted a double-double with 10 rebounds and 6 points against Rider.
Fairfield’s recent success has featured balanced scoring. Alongside Turner, Antione Williams (16 points, 4 assists vs. Manhattan) and Declan Wucherpfennig have provided consistent contributions. Marist relies on a collective effort, with Jadin Collins-Roberts and Justin Menard, who scored 15 points against Rider, sharing the offensive load.
The Red Foxes have been strong at home this season, boasting a 6-1 record in Poughkeepsie. Fairfield has a 4-4 mark in true road games.
This contest represents an early-season opportunity for both squads to solidify their standing in the MAAC. The winner will gain a valuable conference victory ahead of a quick turnaround, as both teams play again on Monday.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026.
