Miami (Fla.) at Notre Dame

Preview: Miami Visits Notre Dame in ACC Clash

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (Interstat) — The high-flying Miami Hurricanes, riding a six-game winning streak, face a road test against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in an Atlantic Coast Conference men’s basketball matchup Tuesday night at the Joyce Athletic Center.

Miami (14-2, 2-0 ACC) enters as one of the nation’s hottest teams, averaging 88.6 points during its streak. The Hurricanes are coming off a 91-81 home victory over Georgia Tech on Saturday, powered by a dynamic backcourt.

The Hurricanes are led by guard Tre Donaldson, who is playing at an All-ACC level. Donaldson is averaging 19.8 points and 8.0 assists over his last five games, including a 27-point, 10-assist performance against Georgia Tech. He is complemented by forwards Shelton Henderson (17 points vs. Georgia Tech) and Ernest Udeh.

Notre Dame (10-6, 0-2), however, seeks to defend its home court and rebound from consecutive conference losses to Clemson and California. The Fighting Irish fell 76-61 to Clemson on Saturday, struggling offensively outside of freshman standout Jalen Haralson.

Haralson, a versatile guard, leads Notre Dame with 18 points per game in ACC play. He scored 21 points with nine rebounds in a narrow loss to Fort Wayne last month, showcasing his ability to impact multiple statistical categories. The Irish will need a similar all-around effort from him to counter Miami’s offensive firepower.

The matchup pits Miami’s potent, up-tempo attack against a Notre Dame team that has shown defensive grit, holding Stanford to 40 points in a win on Dec. 30. Containing Donaldson’s penetration and distribution will be paramount for the Irish.

This game marks the start of a challenging stretch for both teams. Miami visits Clemson on Saturday, while Notre Dame hits the road for games at Virginia Tech and North Carolina next week.

Tuesday’s tipoff is set for 9 p.m. EST. The game will be televised on an ACC network affiliate.
