William & Mary at Drexel

PHILADELPHIA (Interstat) — A surging William & Mary squad looks to rebound from its first losing streak of the season when it visits a struggling Drexel team in a Colonial Athletic Association men’s basketball matchup Saturday at Daskalakis Athletic Center.

The Tribe (11-5, 0-2 CAA) opened conference play with road losses at College of Charleston and Monmouth this past week after a strong non-conference performance. Drexel (7-10, 1-1), meanwhile, snapped a four-game skid with a dominant 56-37 home win over Stony Brook on Thursday.

William & Mary will lean on guard Tunde Vahlberg Fasasi, who has been a consistent offensive force. He is averaging 17.2 points over his last five games, including a 22-point, 7-rebound effort in a win over Stony Brook on Dec. 31 and 20 points at Charleston on Jan. 5. He scored 13 in the loss at Monmouth.

The Dragons counter with forward Dillon Tingler, who provided a needed spark off the bench against Stony Brook with 13 points in 21 minutes. His production will be key for a Drexel offense that has averaged just 62.2 points over its last five games.

The Tribe’s early success has been built on efficient offense, averaging 82.1 points per game. Drexel has struggled to keep pace, allowing 68.9 points per contest. The Dragons will need to replicate the defensive intensity that held Stony Brook to 23.2% shooting to slow down William & Mary.

This game begins a critical three-game homestand for Drexel, which follows with contests against Northeastern and Hampton. William & Mary returns home next week to host North Carolina A&T as it seeks its first CAA victory.

Tip-off is set for Saturday afternoon in West Philadelphia.
