Preview: Maryland Terrapins at UCLA Bruins
LOS ANGELES (Interstat) — The UCLA Bruins look to rebound from back-to-back road losses when they host the struggling Maryland Terrapins in a Big Ten Conference men’s basketball matchup Saturday at Pauley Pavilion.
The Bruins (10-5 overall) enter the contest after falling 80-72 at Wisconsin on Tuesday and 74-61 at Iowa last Saturday. UCLA had won five straight prior to the trip.
Maryland (6-8) seeks to end a three-game skid, most recently an 84-66 home loss to Indiana on Wednesday. The Terrapins are 1-5 in their last six games.
UCLA is led by guard Donovan Dent, who is averaging 17.3 points and 7.3 assists over his last three contests. Dent logged 40 minutes with 13 points and seven assists in the loss at Wisconsin. Forward Eric Dailey Jr. added 18 points in that game.
For Maryland, forward Elijah Saunders is a key figure. He scored a team-high 16 points against Indiana and has reached double figures in three of his last five games. He will need support from Solomon Washington (14 points vs. Indiana) and guard Andre Mills (10 points, 4 assists).
The Bruins have been strong at home this season, boasting a 7-1 record in Los Angeles with an average margin of victory of 28.2 points in those wins. Their lone home loss was a non-conference defeat to California in November.
Maryland, meanwhile, has struggled away from home, going 1-4 in true road games, with the lone win coming at UNLV in November. The Terrapins’ defense will be tested by a UCLA offense that has scored 90 or more points in three of its last five home games.
This marks the first meeting between the programs as Big Ten conference foes. UCLA holds a 4-2 all-time series edge.
Tip-off is set for Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026, at Pauley Pavilion.
