Arizona at Texas Christian
FORT WORTH, Texas (Interstat) — The nation’s last remaining undefeated team in men’s Division I basketball puts its perfect record on the line Saturday when Arizona faces Texas Christian in a high-stakes Big 12 matchup at Dickies Arena.
The Wildcats (15-0, 2-0 Big 12) have steamrolled their competition, winning by an average margin of 26.7 points. Their most recent victory was a 101-76 demolition of Kansas State on Wednesday, showcasing a deep and explosive offense. Arizona, which joined the Big 12 this season, has already notched impressive nonconference wins at Alabama and against then-Connecticut.
TCU (11-4, 1-1) presents a significant step up in conference competition. The Horned Frogs are coming off a hard-fought 104-100 overtime loss at Kansas on Tuesday, proving they can contend with the nation’s elite. Their home-court advantage at a neutral-site arena in Fort Worth remains a factor.
Arizona is led by standout guard Brayden Burries, who is averaging 19.6 points per game. He scored 28 points in 28 minutes against Kansas State and had 28 points in a road win at Alabama. His backcourt play will be pivotal against TCU’s pressure.
The Horned Frogs counter with guard Liutauras Lelevicius, who scored 23 points in the narrow loss at Kansas. His ability to score from the perimeter will be crucial to stretching Arizona’s defense. TCU’s interior defense, led by forward David Punch who had five blocks at Kansas, faces its toughest test against Arizona’s size, including 7-foot-2 center Motiejus Krivas.
This game is a critical early conference test for both teams. Arizona aims to validate its ranking on the road, while TCU seeks a program-defining win to solidify its NCAA tournament resume. The Horned Frogs’ only home loss this season was in overtime to Notre Dame in early December.
Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST Saturday. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
