Navy at Holy Cross

WORCESTER, Mass. (Interstat) — A surging Navy men’s basketball team looks to continue its winning ways when it visits Holy Cross in a Patriot League matchup Saturday at the Hart Recreation Center.

The Midshipmen (9-5) enter on a four-game win streak, most recently defeating Boston University 82-77 on Wednesday. Dynamic guard Austin Benigni fueled that victory, scoring 27 points and dishing eight assists in a full 40-minute performance. Benigni has been instrumental during Navy’s run, averaging over 20 points per game in his last three contests against Division I opponents.

Holy Cross (6-8) also won its last outing, a 65-58 home victory over Bucknell on Wednesday. The Crusaders were led by guard Gabe Warren, who posted 14 points, five rebounds and four assists. Warren has been a consistent scorer, reaching double figures in four of his last five games, including a 25-point effort in a road win at Fordham earlier this month.

The game presents a contrast in early-season momentum. Navy has found its rhythm offensively, averaging 75.3 points during its current streak. Holy Cross has struggled for consistency, alternating wins and losses in its last six games and facing challenges on the defensive end in several defeats.

This contest opens the Patriot League schedule for both teams. Navy will look to leverage its experienced backcourt, while Holy Cross aims to protect its home court and build on its latest win. The rematch is scheduled for Jan. 21 in Annapolis, Maryland.

Tip-off is set for Saturday afternoon in Worcester.
