Omaha at Oregon
OMAHA, Neb. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking momentum before conference play begins will meet Sunday when the Omaha Mavericks visit the Oregon Ducks at Matthew Knight Arena.
The nonconference matchup features teams with identical .500 records, though their paths have differed. Omaha (7-7) enters on a four-game winning streak, including an 85-82 overtime victory at Lamar on Dec. 20. Oregon (6-6) looks to rebound after a 91-82 home loss to Gonzaga on Dec. 21.
The Mavericks are led by guard Lance Waddles, who has averaged 20.2 points during the winning streak. He scored 25 points in the win at Lamar. Paul Djobet added 22 points and Brock Scholl had 13 in that game.
Oregon counters with center Nate Bittle, who is coming off a dominant 28-point, five-assist, four-block performance against the Bulldogs. His play will be central for the Ducks, who have shown a high ceiling in blowout wins over Portland and UC Davis but have struggled against top-tier competition.
According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Oregon is a 20.5-point favorite. The over/under is 155.5 points.
The game is a final tune-up before both teams embark on demanding conference schedules. Omaha opens Summit League play Jan. 1 at South Dakota State. Oregon begins its inaugural Big Ten slate Jan. 2 at Maryland.
Sunday’s tipoff is set for 5 p.m. PST in Eugene.
