South Dakota State vs. UC Irvine
CANCÚN, Mexico (Interstat) — South Dakota State looks to rebound from a lopsided loss when it faces UC Irvine in a men’s NCAA Division I basketball game Wednesday at the Cancun Challenge.
The Jackrabbits (4-3) were routed 75-52 by Utah Valley on Tuesday, a stark contrast to their 105-point offensive explosion in a win over Georgia State just four days prior. The Anteaters (3-3) are coming off a tough 70-69 overtime loss to Northern Iowa on Nov. 22.
South Dakota State’s season has been marked by inconsistency, with the high-scoring win over Georgia State and a 94-46 victory over Peru St. bookending a 23-point loss. UC Irvine has also shown flashes, defeating Weber State 79-70 but falling to Utah Valley and California Baptist.
The neutral-site contest in Mexico pits the Jackrabbits, who are 1-2 in true road games this season, against a UC Irvine squad seeking to get back to .500. Both teams will look to build momentum before returning to the United States for their next contests. South Dakota State travels to Northern Arizona on Dec. 3, while UC Irvine is at San Jose State on Nov. 30.
