WILMINGTON, N.C. (Interstat) — The Navy men’s basketball team looks to get back to a winning record on Wednesday when it faces a struggling Gardner-Webb squad as part of a multi-team event at Brooks Field.

The Midshipmen (3-3) are coming off an 86-70 home victory over NJIT on Saturday. Austin Benigni and Aidan Kehoe combined for 41 points in the win, with Benigni scoring 20 and Kehoe adding 21. Navy’s three wins have come against NJIT, Washington College and Presbyterian.

Gardner-Webb (0-6) is still searching for its first win of the season. The Runnin’ Bulldogs are coming off a 102-67 road loss to Richmond this past Saturday. Spence Sims led the team with 17 points in that contest. All six of Gardner-Webb’s losses have been by double digits, including defeats to power conference opponents Clemson and Minnesota.

This neutral-site game is the first meeting between the programs. Following this contest, Navy will face UNC Wilmington on Friday, while Gardner-Webb takes on Southeastern Louisiana.
