Penn at Drexel
PHILADELPHIA (Interstat) — A pair of city rivals coming off decisive victories will meet Friday night when the Penn Quakers visit the Drexel Dragons at the Daskalakis Athletic Center.
Penn (2-2) enters the non-conference matchup with momentum after an 83-74 win over Saint Joseph’s on Monday. The Quakers’ offense was powered by a dominant performance from TJ Power, who scored 23 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, and Ethan Roberts, who poured in a game-high 31 points.
Drexel (2-3) is also looking to build on a strong defensive performance, having held NJIT to just 43 points in a 75-43 rout on Tuesday. Shane Blakeney and Kevon Vanderhorst led a balanced scoring attack with 13 points apiece.
The game represents a local test for both teams. The Quakers’ two losses this season have come on the road against Providence and American. The Dragons have struggled away from home, with all three of their losses occurring in true road games, including a 76-65 defeat at Saint Joseph’s.
Friday’s contest is the first of a busy stretch for both programs. Penn will host three games in three days next weekend, while Drexel will welcome Old Dominion on Sunday.
