Jackson State at Arkansas
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (Interstat) — The Arkansas Razorbacks look to continue their strong start to the season when they host the struggling Jackson State Tigers in a non-conference men’s basketball game Friday at Bud Walton Arena.
Arkansas (4-1) is coming off a narrow 84-83 home victory over Winthrop on Tuesday. Freshman Meleek Thomas led the way with 26 points, while Trevon Brazile added 14 points and four blocks. The Razorbacks’ only loss came on the road against then-Michigan State, 69-66, on Nov. 8.
Jackson State (0-3) is seeking its first win after a challenging opening stretch. The Tigers are coming off a 68-51 loss at Louisiana Tech on Saturday, where Jayme Mitchell scored a team-high 13 points. Their season began with lopsided road losses at Illinois (113-55) and Louisville (106-70).
The matchup pits Arkansas’s high-powered offense against a Jackson State team that has struggled to score, averaging just 58.7 points per game. The Razorbacks have averaged 84.4 points in their four home games this season.
This game serves as a final tune-up for Arkansas before a high-profile showdown with Duke next Thursday in Chicago. Jackson State continues its difficult road trip, hosting Winthrop on Sunday.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST at Bud Walton Arena.
