Campbell at Weber State

OGDEN, Utah (Interstat) — Two teams looking to build momentum in the early season will meet Wednesday when the Campbell Fighting Camels visit the Weber State Wildcats at the Dee Events Center.

Campbell (2-2) arrives in Utah after a dominant 108-55 victory over Mid-Atlantic Christian last Thursday. DJ Smith led the offensive explosion with 27 points and six assists, while Dovydas Butka controlled the paint with a 16-rebound, 12-point double-double. The Fighting Camels have shown a potent offense, also scoring 91 points in a win over Western Michigan, but struggled in road losses to West Virginia and Wisconsin.

Weber State (1-3) is seeking to right the ship after a 70-79 road loss to UC Irvine on Saturday. Edwin Suarez provided a spark off the bench with 13 points and six rebounds in that contest. The Wildcats’ lone win was a blowout of West Coast Baptist, but they have suffered three tight road losses, including an overtime defeat at Utah.

The game will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs. Campbell continues its brief Utah road trip on Friday against Texas-Arlington in Cedar City. Weber State will host Texas-Arlington on Saturday.
