Virginia Military Institute at Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (Interstat) — The unbeaten Richmond Spiders will look to extend their strong start to the season when they host the Virginia Military Institute Keydets in a non-conference men’s basketball game Wednesday at the Robins Center.

Richmond (3-0) is coming off a 90-86 home victory over William & Mary on Nov. 11. The Spiders’ offense has been potent, averaging 87 points through their first three contests. In the win over the Tribe, AJ Lopez scored 18 points, Will Johnston added 16 points and five assists, and Aiden Argabright contributed 15 points.

VMI (3-2) arrives looking to rebound from a narrow 69-67 home loss to Jacksonville on Saturday. The Keydets have shown a pattern of high-scoring wins against lower-level competition but have struggled against tougher opponents, including a 106-68 loss at Missouri.

In the defeat to Jacksonville, TJ Johnson led VMI with 18 points and six rebounds, while AJ Clark added 15 points and five boards. The Keydets are averaging 88.2 points per game but are allowing 82.4.

The game will be the final home contest for Richmond before a two-game trip to Florida for the ESPN Events Invitational. VMI continues a busy early-season stretch before heading to a multi-team event of its own next week.
