FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (Interstat) — Meleek Thomas scored 26 points and Nick Pringle converted a go-ahead layup with 11 seconds remaining as Arkansas survived a major scare from Winthrop for an 84-83 victory Tuesday night at Bud Walton Arena. The Razorbacks improved to 4-1 while the Eagles fell to 2-3.
Winthrop’s Kareem Rozier led all scorers with 23 points and Kody Clouet added 16, but the Eagles could not get a final shot to fall in the closing seconds. Arkansas, which led 43-41 at halftime, was bolstered by a 20-for-22 performance from the free-throw line and eight blocked shots.
