Coastal Carolina at Jacksonville State

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (Interstat) — Two undefeated teams at home will be put to the test Friday night when the Jacksonville State Gamecocks host the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers in a non-conference men’s basketball matchup at Pete Mathews Coliseum.

The Gamecocks (2-0) have opened their season with dominant home victories, most recently a 114-39 rout of Reinhardt on Monday. Bencao Vungo recorded a double-double with 12 points and 16 rebounds in that win, while Mostapha El Moutaouakkil added 20 points and nine rebounds.

Coastal Carolina (2-1) arrives after a 72-66 home victory over Winthrop on Tuesday. The Chanticleers’ offense was powered by RaSheed Jones, who scored 20 points, and Joshua Beadle, who added a team-high 23 points. Their only loss came on the road against Western Michigan, 76-71, to open the season.

The game will be the first true road test for the Chanticleers since their season opener. Jacksonville State will look to protect its home court and continue its high-scoring start before hosting South Alabama next Wednesday. Coastal Carolina continues a road swing at Western Illinois on Nov. 20.
