South Carolina State at College of Charleston
CHARLESTON, S.C. (Interstat) — The College of Charleston Cougars will look to get back to .500 on Friday afternoon when they host the winless South Carolina State Bulldogs in a non-conference men’s basketball matchup at TD Arena.
The Cougars (1-2) are returning home after a two-game road trip that ended with a 94-77 loss to Florida Atlantic on Saturday. Jlynn Counter led Charleston with 22 points in the defeat, while Jaxon Prunty added 13 and Chadlyn Traylor scored 12. The team’s lone victory came in its home opener, a 79-58 win over Tusculum on Nov. 3.
South Carolina State (0-3) is still searching for its first win under first-year head coach Erik Martin. The Bulldogs are coming off an 85-62 road loss to North Carolina A&T on Monday. Owen Bronston came off the bench to score a team-high 18 points in that contest. The Bulldogs have faced a challenging early schedule, including a 104-45 defeat at Louisville.
Friday’s game offers a chance for both teams to build momentum before difficult stretches. The Cougars host Drake on Monday, while the Bulldogs continue a grueling run of road games, with eight of their next nine contests away from home.
Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. EST.
