Rice at Oregon
EUGENE, Ore. (Interstat) — The Rice Owls, fresh off a record-setting offensive outburst, face a significant step up in competition when they visit the Oregon Ducks at Matthew Knight Arena on Friday.
Both teams enter the nonconference matchup with 1-0 records, but they arrived there in starkly different fashion. Rice demolished Biblical Stud. 109-38 on Tuesday, with Eternity Eguagie (15 points), Trae Broadnax (13 points) and Cam Carroll (11 points, 9 assists) leading a balanced attack.
Oregon, conversely, grinded out a narrow 60-59 home victory over Hawaii. Nate Bittle posted a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds, while Takai Simpkins scored a team-high 18 points.
The game presents a classic contrast in early-season momentum. The Owls will look to carry their high-scoring rhythm on the road, while the Ducks aim to build on a defensive-minded win in their first major test. For Oregon, it begins a challenging stretch that includes a neutral-site game against Auburn and a road contest at San Diego State later this month. Rice continues a road swing at Tennessee on Nov. 17.
