Georgetown at Maryland

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (Interstat) — A revived local rivalry tips off the season for Maryland when the Terrapins host the Georgetown Hoyas on Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, at the Xfinity Center.

The Terrapins begin their 2025-26 campaign after last playing in the NCAA tournament on March 27, a 87-71 loss to Florida. They will look to start anew against a familiar foe.

Georgetown (1-0) arrives with early momentum after a season-opening 87-70 victory over Morgan State on Monday. The Hoyas’ frontcourt was dominant in the win, with Jayden Fort recording nine points, six rebounds and three blocks, and Vincent Iwuchukwu adding seven points, four rebounds and four blocks. Guard KJ Lewis led all scorers with 14 points.

The matchup presents a significant early-season test for both teams. For Maryland, it’s an immediate challenge against an in-region opponent. For Georgetown, it’s a chance to build a winning streak and claim a high-major non-conference victory on the road before a stretch that includes games against Clemson and North Carolina.

This will be the first meeting between the two programs since 2021. The game is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. EST tipoff.
