Cal State Fullerton at Cal State Northridge

LOS ANGELES (Interstat) — A critical Big West Conference men’s basketball matchup featuring two of the league’s top guards will tip off Saturday when the Cal State Northridge Matadors host the Cal State Fullerton Titans.

The game, scheduled for March 7, 2026, at the Matadome, pits the surging Matadors (18-12 overall) against the .500 Titans (15-15) in the regular-season finale for both teams. Conference tournament seeding will be on the line.

Northridge enters having lost two straight, including a 95-84 road loss to UC Riverside last Saturday. Despite the defeat, guard Josiah Davis was spectacular, pouring in 38 points and dishing eight assists. The junior has been on a tear, averaging 24.2 points and 6.8 assists over his last six games, including a 31-point effort in an overtime win at UC Santa Barbara.

Fullerton is looking to bounce back from a narrow 87-85 home loss to Hawaii on Feb. 28. The Titans have been inconsistent but dangerous, alternating wins and losses over their past six contests. They are led by guard Josh Ward, who nearly posted a triple-double against Hawaii with 16 points and eight assists. Ward is averaging 15.3 points and 5.0 assists per game during this recent stretch.

The teams met earlier this season in Fullerton on Jan. 10, with the Titans securing an 86-79 victory. Containing the opposing star guard will be a focal point for both defenses in the rematch.

Northridge will rely on its home-court advantage, where it has posted an 11-4 record this season. The Matadors’ offense, powered by Davis, averages over 80 points per game. Fullerton, which is 6-9 on the road, will need a strong defensive performance and efficient scoring beyond Ward to split the season series and build momentum heading into the conference tournament.

Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. PST at the Matadome.
