DePaul at Marquette

MILWAUKEE (Interstat) — A surging DePaul team looks to continue its late-season push when it visits the Bradley Center on Sunday to face a Marquette squad desperate to halt a disappointing campaign.

The Blue Demons (15-13, 8-9 Big East) enter with momentum after a dramatic 72-71 road win at Creighton on Wednesday, sealed by a last-second basket. They have won three of their last five to climb above .500 overall. The Golden Eagles (10-18, 5-12), meanwhile, are near the bottom of the conference standings despite a 76-60 victory at Georgetown in their last outing.

DePaul will lean on guard Brandon Maclin, who is averaging 16.2 points over his last six games. He scored 21 points in the win over Creighton and had 17 in a 72-71 home victory over the Bluejays earlier this month.

Marquette counters with dynamic guard Nigel James, who is coming off a 20-point, 6-assist performance against Georgetown. He tallied a staggering 30 points and 12 assists in a loss at Xavier on Feb. 14 and scored 25 in a defeat to Saint John’s.

In the first meeting this season, DePaul edged Marquette 80-75 in Chicago on Jan. 16. The Blue Demons have struggled on the road in conference play (3-6), while the Golden Eagles are 7-8 at home.

Despite the records, Marquette is a 3.5-point favorite according to FanDuel Sportsbook, with an over/under set at 142 points. The Interstat ELO system gives the Golden Eagles an 80.4% probability to win.

A DePaul victory would bolster its case for a potential postseason bid. For Marquette, the game represents one of its final chances to build positive momentum before the Big East tournament.

Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. CST Sunday. DePaul hosts Villanova next Wednesday, while Marquette travels to Providence.
