Air Force at Wyoming
Preview: Air Force Falcons at Wyoming Cowboys
BOSLER, Wyo. (Interstat) — The Wyoming Cowboys will look to solidify their position in the Mountain West standings when they host the struggling Air Force Falcons on Saturday at Arena-Auditorium.
Wyoming (15-13 overall) enters the contest seeking consistency after alternating wins and losses over its past six games. The Cowboys are coming off a 72-62 road loss at Boise State on Tuesday, where Damarion Dennis led the team with 16 points. Dennis has been a key offensive contributor, averaging 16.4 points over his last five outings.
Air Force (3-25) arrives mired in a 12-game losing streak, last winning on Jan. 3. The Falcons fell 86-80 at home to San Jose State on Tuesday despite 21 points from Lucas Hobin and 20 points from guard Kam Sanders.
Sanders has been a bright spot during the skid, averaging 14.6 points and 6.1 assists over his last eight games. His playmaking will be critical against a Wyoming defense that allows an average of 72.5 points per game.
The Cowboys won the season’s first meeting 68-56 at Air Force on Dec. 30. Wyoming has dominated the recent series, winning nine of the last 10 matchups.
For Wyoming, a victory would bolster its record ahead of the conference tournament. For Air Force, the game represents another opportunity to break a prolonged drought and build momentum before visiting Nevada next week.
Tip-off is scheduled for Saturday afternoon. Wyoming’s next game is at home against Nevada on Tuesday. Air Force returns home to face Grand Canyon on Tuesday.
