Virginia at Duke

DURHAM, N.C. (Interstat) — A potential seed in the NCAA tournament and the inside track to the Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season title will be on the line Saturday when Duke hosts Virginia in a monumental late-season clash at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

The matchup, scheduled for Feb. 28, 2026, features two of the nation’s premier teams. The Blue Devils (26-2, 14-1 ACC) enter with a slight edge in record, while the Cavaliers (25-3, 14-1) bring a stifling defense on a 10-game winning streak. Their only common conference loss is to North Carolina, setting the stage for a showdown that will likely decide the ACC champion.

Virginia’s system, predicated on tempo control and defensive efficiency, faces its toughest test in Duke’s high-powered offense. The Cavaliers have held 12 of their last 13 opponents under 70 points. Duke, meanwhile, has scored 100 points or more in three of its last five games, including a 101-64 rout of Syracuse and a 100-56 demolition of Notre Dame on Tuesday.

The spotlight will shine on two standout forwards. Virginia’s Thijs De Ridder has been a model of consistency, scoring in double figures in eight straight games. He dropped 22 points in just 21 minutes at Georgia Tech and 19 points in a win over NC State last Tuesday. For Duke, sophomore sensation Cameron Boozer has been a force, averaging 20.6 points over his last eight contests. He posted 24 points in the win at Notre Dame and had 24 points in a narrow road loss to North Carolina earlier this month.

The Cavaliers’ last loss was an 85-80 defeat to the Tar Heels on Jan. 24. Since then, they have navigated a tough schedule, including road wins at Florida State and Ohio State. Duke’s only blemish since early January is the two-point loss in Chapel Hill. The Blue Devils have since won four straight by an average of 28.3 points.

History adds another layer, as Duke’s famed home court has often been a house of horrors for visitors. Virginia will need its disciplined style to withstand the Cameron Crazies. The winner gains a crucial tiebreaker and massive momentum heading into March.
