Huskies Dominate Red Storm in Defensive Showcase
HARTFORD, Conn. (Interstat) — Connecticut delivered a stifling defensive performance to overwhelm Saint John’s 72-40 in a Big East men’s basketball game Wednesday night at XL Center.
The Huskies, improving to 26-3, held the Red Storm to 19.6% shooting from the floor. Saint John’s managed just 14 second-half points. Connecticut’s Tarris Reed led all scorers with 20 points and added six blocks. Alex Karaban scored 14 points for the Huskies.
Saint John’s, which fell to 22-6, was led by Joson Sanon’s 10 points. The Red Storm’s 40-point total marked a season low. A crowd of 15,495 watched as Connecticut avenged a loss to Saint John’s earlier this month.
