Hughes Leads Matadors Past Warriors in Big West Showdown

LOS ANGELES (Interstat) — Larry Hughes scored 27 points to propel Cal State Northridge to an 84-60 victory over Hawaii in a Big West Conference men’s basketball game Saturday at Matadome.

The Matadors (16-10, 8-5) never trailed, building a 40-28 halftime lead and maintaining control throughout the second half. Hughes, a guard from St. Louis, Missouri, was efficient in 28 minutes, keying an offense that generated 25 points off turnovers and 38 points in the paint.

Josiah Davis added 20 points and five assists for Cal State Northridge. Isaac Finlinson scored 13 points to lead the Warriors (18-6, 9-4), who shot poorly from the field. The Matadors avenged a 21-point loss to Hawaii just three weeks prior.

A crowd of 445 attended the Valentine’s Day matchup.
