Southern Indiana at Southeast Missouri State

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (Interstat) — The Southeast Missouri State Redhawks will look to solidify their standing in the Ohio Valley Conference when they host the struggling Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles on Saturday at the Show Me Center.

The Redhawks (14-10) enter the matchup on a three-game winning streak, most recently an 82-70 victory over Morehead State on Thursday. Guard BJ Ward has been a catalyst, scoring 21 points with four assists in that win. Over his last four games, Ward is averaging 10.8 points and 5.3 assists, directing one of the league’s more potent offenses.

Conversely, Southern Indiana (5-17) has lost five of its last six, including a 76-54 road loss at Tennessee-Martin on Thursday. The Screaming Eagles’ offense has frequently sputtered, failing to reach 70 points in 10 of their last 11 contests.

A bright spot for USI has been the play of guard Amaree Brown. He scored 14 points in the loss to UT Martin and has topped 20 points in three of his last seven games, including a 22-point effort against Lindenwood on Jan. 29.

This is the second meeting between the teams this season. On Jan. 8 in Evansville, Southeast Missouri State secured an 84-76 win. The Redhawks have won five of their last seven games overall and are 9-3 at home this season. Southern Indiana is 1-10 in true road games.

The matchup pits one of the OVC’s top home teams against a visiting squad desperate to reverse its fortunes. Southeast Missouri State will aim to leverage its recent form and home-court advantage, while Southern Indiana seeks an upset behind Brown’s scoring to snap its skid.

Tipoff is set for Saturday afternoon.
