DePaul at Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (Interstat) — Two Big East teams looking to halt recent slides will meet Saturday when the DePaul Blue Demons visit the Providence Friars at Dunkin’ Center.

DePaul (12-11) has lost three straight, including a 68-56 home defeat to Saint John’s on Tuesday. Providence (10-13) snapped a four-game skid with a dramatic 97-87 double-overtime victory over Butler on Wednesday. Both teams sit in the bottom half of the conference standings and are seeking consistency as the regular season enters its final month.

The matchup features two of the league’s standout guards. DePaul will rely on Layden Blocker, who has averaged 13.4 points over his last seven games. He scored 20 points in a loss to Butler on Jan. 20 and dished out eight assists in a win over Marquette on Jan. 16. Providence is powered by Jaylin Sellers, who is coming off a career-high 36-point performance in 42 minutes against Butler. Sellers has scored 18 or more points in five of his last eight contests.

The Blue Demons have struggled offensively during their losing streak, failing to reach 70 points in any of the three losses. Providence’s defense, which allowed an average of 90.5 points during its four-game losing streak, showed improvement by holding Butler to 87 points in 50 minutes last time out.

Saturday’s game is the first of two meetings between the teams this month. They will play again at DePaul on Feb. 21. The Friars will aim to protect their home court, where they are 7-5 this season. DePaul is 3-6 in true road games.

The game is scheduled for a 12 p.m. EST tipoff on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, and will be broadcast on the Big East’s regional television network.
